this illustrates how i see colors en plein air
when i paint outside i see so much more
i planted the bushes off to the left, they were small one gallon plants just the other day (or so it seems)

lake travis

sunsets are fast this one was done in about five minutes
the talk that night was that we people are fighting a lost cause
no one can really portray the grand beauty of the sun's rays touching the curve of earth

sunset over the bird sanctuary

port aransas is my island time place

rockport shrimp boat

barbara told me that boats are just squares, boxes in the water
i am sure this will make it easier for me to paint them next time

dutch moutain

this is near enchanted rock, in the fredericksburg area of texas
the austin plein air group spent a weekend there last spring
it is also a cattle ranch
which i believe is owned by two old heifer bulls
they are huge, twenty years old and very happy
just to the right of the painting, is an oak grove where the bulls spent the afternoon dozing in the shade

plein air iris

no, no, no not now
it was in the spring
some nasty bluebonnets got in my iris bed

copano bay bridge

20x24 oil on stretched canvas
now on display at the rockport art center
a group of us paint with virginia vaughn at the coast
one day we were given access to the backyard of some people that no one knew
we had stopped to eat and as artists will do, were looking around for a great view for the afternoon plien air session
they asked the people that owned this place if we could paint from their yard and they were so nice to let us invade with all our easels for the rest of the day

selected

this is a watercolor that was juried into a show by bob burridge
it was my first juried entry anywhere and having bob select it boosted my confidence thankyou bob

on the mountain above westmill

the mountain side was full of wonderful plants and trees
i also suspected that there might be truffles because i saw diggings
the wild boar had been loosening up the dirt around some of the trees.
